Job enlargement

Involves providing employees with more tasks of the same or similar nature. Instead of completing the same task day in and day out, an employee may be given several different tasks to do, all of which require a similar level of skill. This may, for example, involve shop floor workers in a supermarket moving from: filling shelves in the grocery department (dry goods) to rotating goods in the produce department (fresh fruit and vegetables); or a checkout assistant also serving behind the delicatessen counter.
