Labour turnover

Concerns the number of staff that leave a business in a given period of time, usually a year. It is normally expressed as a percentage of the average number of staff employed in the business during the year. Example: If the average number of staff employed in a business is 220 and 20 leave during the year, labour turnover is 11%. Those leaving for unavoidable reasons such as retirement, ill health, pregnancy, marriage, etc should really be excluded from the figures to enable any human resource problems within the business to be more easily identified.
