Communication through speech. Examples of oral communications are an informal chat, more formal interview or meeting. Oral communication may be carried out face to face, via video conferencing facilities, via telephone and, more recently, using Internet (VoIP / Skype) technology, as well as through loudspeaker and radio, for example. Oral communications are best used for personal matters, matters of great importance and ‘unpleasant’ matters. Effectiveness may depend upon tone of voice, pitch, volume, speed and clarity of expression.
