Product differentiation

Making a product / service stand out from competitors. This can be done through actual product advantages – for example – making a product more effective in carrying out its function, or more visually appealing (eg through improved colour, design); and / or perceived product advantages ie making a product look different even through there are no tangible, physical differences. This often involves using psychological factors through branding and advertising.
