Duration is 2 hours, and there are a total of 80 marks available. The questions included in each paper ensure students gain exam practice across AQA’s 4 A Level assessment objectives and marks are weighted according to AQA’s requirements at A Level. For questions carrying high marks, detailed example model answers are provided in paragraph form, rather than a list of relevant points anticipated to be raised in the answer.

Each question paper contains 3 sections: Section A, which consists of a range of multiple-choice and short-answer questions; Section B, which consists of one data response question broken down into a number of parts; Section C, which consists of a choice of extended open-response questions (with students selecting one from two). Duration is 2 hours, and there are 100 marks available. The questions included in each paper ensure students gain exam practice across Edexcel’s 4 A Level assessment objectives and marks are weighted according to Edexcel’s requirements at A Level: 22-24% test students’ knowledge and understanding (A01); 22-24% test students’ ability to apply knowledge and understanding (A02); 26-28% test students ability to analyse (A03) and 26-28% test students ability to evaluate (A04). For questions worth 10 or more marks (where ‘Level Descriptors’ are used to mark students’ answers), detailed example model answers have been provided in paragraph form, rather than a list of relevant points anticipated to be raised in the answer. Answers to questions worth 10 or more marks, have also been annotated to show where assessment objectives have been met (ie knowledge, application, analysis and evaluation).
